How Par-Asphalt started
A customer needed to scan locations on asphalt.
The customer tracked an outdoor parking and bulk-storage area in its WMS, and standard warehouse floor labels weren’t designed for the job. Our team spent several weeks on research, development, trial and error, and testing. Par-Asphalt™ came out of that work. It pairs a thick, aggressive rubber-based adhesive with durable 3M polyester and a heavy protective laminate.

What goes on the tag
| Field | Why it is there |
|---|---|
| Asset ID | Matches the ID in your GIS and work-order system |
| QR code | Crews scan with a phone or tablet on an inspection |
| Code 128 or Code 39 barcode | Handheld scans on routes and in the storeroom |
| Utility or department name | Shows whose asset it is, out in the right-of-way |
| Asset type | Readable without a scanner, like Lift Station 4, Pump 2 |
| Human-readable number | A crew can read it over the radio when a scan fails |
| Color header | Sorts water, sewer, and streets assets by color |
| Phone number | Who to call about a damaged tag or asset |
We print the asset IDs you already use, with the same prefixes and district or zone codes.
Field assets · water, wastewater, and electric
Outdoor utility asset tags that crews scan on inspections.
Meters, pad-mount transformers, pump and lift stations, and control cabinets sit outside all year. A tag on each one lets the crew scan the asset on an inspection and open its record in your system.
The material depends on what the tag faces, from sun to road spray.
- Outdoor and UV-resistant materials, picked for the surface and the exposure
- QR codes for phones and tablets, barcodes for handheld scanners, or both
- Tags for the pumps, motors, and control panels inside the station
- Color headers by department: water, wastewater, electric, and streets
Street signs & signals
Street sign barcode labels that tie each sign to its record.
Put a label with the sign’s asset number and a barcode or QR code on the back of every sign. Crews scan it when they install, inspect, or replace the sign, and the sign inventory keeps its history in one record.
Signal cabinets get their own tags on the same numbering.
- Labels sized for sign backs, with the asset number, barcode or QR, and your department name
- Year text on the label, so each year’s installs stay in their own series
- Numbering that matches your sign inventory, by route, district, or corridor
- Outdoor materials, chosen for your sign blanks
Yards, laydown areas & parking
Par-Asphalt location labels for the pipe yard and the laydown area.
Pipe, castings, and meter boxes sit in rows on the asphalt, and salt and stone sit in bays. Par-Asphalt goes straight onto the asphalt at each row, bay, or parking space, with a barcode crews scan when they pull stock.
It’s built for moisture, dirt, and changing outdoor conditions.
- A thick, aggressive rubber-based adhesive made for direct application to asphalt
- Durable 3M polyester under a heavy protective laminate
- Row, bay, and space numbers from your yard layout, ready for inventory or WMS scans
- Yard signs too: driver check-in, directional, and safety signs
Storerooms, spare parts & fleet
Storeroom labels that match the parts list in your work-order system.
Repair clamps, couplings, meter stock, and signal parts sit on shelves and in bins. With a barcode on every shelf, bin, and rack position, parts get issued against the right work order and counted where they sit.
- Shelf, bin, and drawer labels built from your parts list, packed in install order
- Magnetic labels for steel shelving where bin locations change
- Cantilever rack labels for pipe and long stock
- Asset tags for generators, trash pumps, and hand tools that ride on the trucks
How it works
Send an asset export from your GIS or work-order system, a yard layout, or a photo of a tag you use now. We recommend a material and print the labels in order.
1
Tell us what you’re tagging
The assets, the surface each tag goes on, and what it faces outside: sun, rain, road spray, or traffic.
2
We recommend the material
Outdoor and UV-resistant materials for field assets and signs, Par-Asphalt for the yard, and polyester tags for the storeroom.
3
You approve a proof
Nothing prints until the layout and the asset IDs are right.
4
Printed in your order
Sort your list by route, district, or aisle, and the labels come back in that order, ready to apply.

FAQs
Questions utilities and public works ask
It depends on the surface and on the sun and weather each tag sees, so there’s no single number. Describe the exposure, and we’ll suggest a material and send samples to test outside before you order.
Yes, if your system takes a scan. The QR code or barcode carries the asset ID, or a link to the asset’s record, in the format your system reads.
Yes. Send the export or the last ID you issued. New tags continue from there with your prefixes and zone codes.
Yes. We print the sign’s asset number with a barcode or QR code, sized to your sign blanks.
It was built for direct application to asphalt, and for moisture, dirt, and changing outdoor conditions. What drives over it matters, so try a sample row in your yard first.
Yes. Public-sector POs are standard, and card works at checkout too.
The online designer starts at 250 tags, from $122.50, with free shipping. Outdoor tags, sign labels, and Par-Asphalt are custom work, quoted from your list.
Yes. Send the parts or location list, and we print shelf, bin, and rack labels in install order. Magnetic labels suit shelving where bins move.
Yes. Generators, trash pumps, and hand tools get numbered tags from the same series. Gear that rides outside on a truck gets an outdoor material.
